You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. Matthew 5: 14-16
I was sitting at the bus stop the other day and it was a partly cloudy day. I started thinking about how as a child, I always loved to watch the clouds float by and to see the sun breaking through the clouds and the bright ray of sun beaming down somehow makes me smile every time. This started me thinking about how even with clouds floating by trying to cover up the sun, the sun in all its glory still has that much strength to shine and burn thru the cover whether it is puffy white or dark gray and full of rage.
Just as the bible verse from Matthew states, you, me and everyone in the world is a light. We are meant to shine. We are meant to be beacons to those that are lost and cannot find their way. We are meant to shine thru all situations no matter how bad they may be. God is the light of all lights and we are not to fear in any situation (Ps 27:1). We hold the candle of the Lord that penetrates the human spirit, exposing hidden motives (Prov 20:27). We shine so bright that the darkness cannot comprehend (John 1:5). Our light is goodness and truth (Eph 5:9). We are cut from royal cloth and have been called out of darkness (1 Peter 2:9)
So I stand with you as you read this to let you know that no one can dim your light unless you allow it! The evil one knows who you are and waits to prey on your weakness. Stand with head held high and hold your beacon high and let your light so shine among men!
