Cord Of Strength

 Braid or Twist

Some days it hard to decide which way I want my hair to go…should it go up or down; loose or braided or just let it go? It often times seems that my hair is more trouble than it is worth!  Then I remember that I don’t want to cut it and God gave me this covering for a reason.

As I stood taking apart the braid in my hair , I thought about the difference between the braid and a twist…A braid is firm, able to keep shape wet or dry.   A twist, though simple, bunches up and looks nothing like it did when you initially started. Three strands instead of two.

Ecclesiastes 4:12 mentions how a cord of three strands is not quickly broken.  God gave me this thought for a reason.  The strength of having God in your life is not to be taken lightly.   Many bible verses uphold the strength of the Lord.

Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me. KJV

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. KJV

Habakkuk 3:19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds’ feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments. KJV

Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man

As the Lord is our strength, we are also reminded that the Lord knows every hair on our head (Mat 10:30; Luke 12:7). The Lord knit you together from the beginning (Eph 4:6; Col 2:19 Job 10:11 Ps 139:13 and 15). His putting you together was not a mistake it was to also knit you together with those around you (Col 2:2; 1 Sam 18:1 – David and Jonathan becoming one spirit)

Everything about us is purposed in this life.  It is up to us to open our eyes and hearts to what God has done and the sacrifices made and the glory of His word in order to know the full extent of the cross.  Whether you have short hair, long hair, little or no hair just know that God knows who you are and will always love you and support you no matter what you go through in life.  He is your lifeline, your cord of strength – Use it!
