Daddy’s Wisdom

Genesis 49 Jacob blesses His Sons v: 1 and v: 29-33 NIV

Then Jacob called together all his sons and said, “Gather around me, and I will tell you what is going to happen to you in the days to come; Then he gave them these instructions: “I am about to be gathered to my people. Bury me with my fathers in the cave in the field of Ephron the Hittite, the cave in the field of Machpelah, near Mamre in Canaan, which Abraham bought along with the field as a burial place from Ephron the Hittite. There Abraham and his wife Sarah were buried, there Isaac and his wife Rebekah were buried, and there I buried Leah. The field and the cave in it were bought from the Hittites. When Jacob had finished giving instructions to his sons, he drew his feet up into the bed, breathed his last and was gathered to his people.”

All of us have taken instruction from someone we considered a father figure in our lives. Whether from our actual birth parent, uncle, grandfather, blood brother or just the friend close enough to be considered a family member, we looked to them for guidance and instruction.  Just as Joseph spent those many years in someone else’s keep, even being loved by Potiphar and Pharaoh he never discounted his instruction from his heavenly Father who guided his every step.

Many a biblical figure either sought or freely received instruction from God.  From Adam to Cain and Abel, Abraham and Sara, Noah to Jacob, Sampson Abraham, Moses and Aaron, Saul and David………the list goes on leading to the Son of God and his disciples.

Jesus instructed his disciples while they traveled with him during his ministry.  Whatever instruction he received it was then voiced to his followers so that they could see the value in what was happening before them.  He instructed them as to why He did the things He did so that they would understand the end result and the benefit.  Like our earthly fathers, wisdom handed down in order to guide us thru our lives and also to prevent catastrophe in our lives.  The word of God does that for us every time we open our bibles.  We enter into the presence of God and receive wisdom handed down thru many generations that has, thru time, proven itself more and more effective to those who just believe. The Gospel of John is called the “belief” gospel because its words give cause as to why faith as small as a mustard seed can bring you greater rewards than that of man. (Matthew 17:20)

Remember hearing comes by faith and faith comes by the word of God (Rom 10-17.  Seek your heavenly Fathers wisdom today.
