Power Strip

My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.       2 Cor12:9

If you are like me you probably wish you could have enough outlets in your home to accommodate the items that get plugged in daily like our televisions, radios, computers, lamps, etc.  I have a few power strips or surge protectors as they are called to make sure that I don’t blow a fuse or fry any equipment in my home or at my job.  These wonderful gadgets come with at least six outlets to plug into and an on/off switch that allows us to turn on and off several things at one time protecting our valuables and allowing power to flow freely.

As I started to plug into one of these useful tools the other day, it made me think of the bible and how it is a power source we plug into when we study the word and a surge protector when we seek refuge from the world. God’s promises are our power source!  When we open the bible, we look to the words that have stood the test of time and offered many an uplifting surge of grace, mercy and peace every time we come into His presence.

1 Corinthians 1:8 says that He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.  Romans 6:14 says For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law but under law, but under grace. What a revelation of strength and power! Throughout the bible, many were given unspeakable strength and power when their focus was on the Lord (David, Moses, Abraham, Esther, Rahab, Ruth etc.).  As a surge protector, the word offers protection against the strife of world and the arrows of the evil one. Matthew 11:28-30 states Come to me all you who are weary and heavy laden and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light;  Ephesians 4:26-27 gives word on how to deal with the devil: In your anger do not sin: do not let the sun go down while you are still angry and do not give the devil a foothold.  Galations 5:18 states clearly But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under law.  Remember, the law was given through Moses but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ (John 1:16-17).   Hallelujiah!!!!  Each of these and more words in the bible offer an outlet for rest and peace through Jesus Christ!

As you go through your daily routine, stop to think how much God is involved and how the grace and mercy that came through the death of Jesus Christ has released you of condemnation, forgave you of all your sins and poured out life, health and prosperity!  You can plug into every outlet of your life and turn on when God is your power supply!  He will protect you (Armor of God Eph 6: 10-18), empower you (Holy Spirit John 14: 15-31) and give you the surge (revelation Gal 1:12) you need when you need it!

Have you plugged in today?
