In our day and age of weight loss go to’s, many of us have strayed away from the natural things that in my opinion, our bodies are craving.
Now most people will avoid lemons but you should take full advantage of the wonderful benefits of this yellow globe of goodness. Not only beneficial in cooking but your body can benefit from the natural properties as well as your household. I love the smell of lemon and keep lemons in my kitchen. Lemons can be used in conjunction with baking soda to clean your counters and stove top. The gentle abrasion along with the acidity kills germs and lifts stuff you cannot see with your naked eye. Lemons can also be used in your garbage disposal to get rid of that funky smell and my favorite kitchen cleaner: 1 part apple cider vinegar, 1/2 a lemon (squeezed) and 1 part water in a microwaveable bowl and put in your microwave for 3 minutes to boil. Leave in the microwave for approximately 5 minutes. The steam combination will undo the gunk in your microwave and believe it or not leave it smelling fresh!
Now for the health benefits! You can use a lemon during your shower on your elbows, knees and feet for gentle exfoliation.
Lemon in tepid water first thing in the morning not only naturally alkalizes (balances PH) you body but is great for digestion. It also acts as a diuretic and aids in weight loss. Your kidneys will love you! Now most of us are not going to carry lemons with us so, you can find an essential oil and adjust the number of drops needed that work for you. Just make sure you have essential oil that is digestable so that you don’t cause other issues. The right combination can do wonders for you (ask me how). So let this little ball of sunshine aid you in living healthy! Remember, yellow is the color of sunshine and who doesn’t want a little sunshine in their lives!
